“Where Dwellest Thou?”

“Again the next day after John stood, and two of his disciples;”

“And looking upon Jesus as he walked, he saith, Behold the Lamb of God!”

“And the two disciples heard him speak, and they followed Jesus.”

“Then Jesus turned, and saw them following, and saith unto them, What seek ye? They said unto him, Rabbi, (which is to say, being interpreted, Master,) where dwellest thou?” (John 1:35-38)

John the Baptist pointed Christ out to his disciples and they followed Jesus; this is the way it should work, we as His ambassadors make him known to those around us, which causes those around us to see & to follow Christ the Lord.

John’s disciples come to Jesus, and when asked what it is that they want, they answer that they want to know where this Rabbi dwells.

The Greek word here for “dwellest” means “to be present”; the desire of these disciples was “Lord, we want Your presence; we want to be where Your presence abides”.

Jesus is wonderful in His response to their desire, as He says “Come and see”.

The Lord still responds this way to any who desires His presence in their life, He will bring you into the place where His presence dwells!

“He saith unto them, Come and see. They came and saw where he dwelt, and abode with him that day: for it was about the tenth hour.” (John 1:39)

Jesus will lead those who desire and seek Him directly into His awesome presence!

The Bible encourages us that His presence can be found where His people gather in His name: “For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.” (Matthew 18:20)

May God bless you as you enter into His wonderful presence!
